I can only speak from the daily observations of a ski patroller at Heavenly, but over the course of this winter we have only lowered our chair tower pads one foot. The cold temperatures we've had since November, with one exception a couple of weeks ago when we got a little rain and the whole hill froze, have kept the snow intact, even dried it out making for great powder days of skiing, so when it comes to "there won't be any snow when I thru hike the Sierra," don't believe it.

You can look at all the statistics you want, but go up there and see for yourself--even if it doesn't snow again, there's a lot of snow in the backcountry! Mountain Education has another 3-day Snow Skills Training Weekend this weekend, so when we get back, we'll tell you what we saw. Maybe this time we'll get the pictures up on our Facebook site so you all can see, too!
