Timonthy writes: The Muir Hut was designed for the Sierra Club by Henry Gutterson.  As a child I lived in a house he designed in Berkeley.  And yes it has a fireplace.  Not quite as rustic as the hut, it is true.  He was a proponent of the arts and crafts movement and that home, which was built in 1915, exemplifies it.

Switchback replies: Yes, I remember helping build it.  Reinhold used to come by to try to pick up extra money to fund his Sierra trips.  He carried bricks for us.  That is how he become so wiry.
