No one that I saw carried a bear can any further than they absolutely had to
for legal reasons, ie. Kennedy Meadows to Sonora Pass.  Some sent it home at
Tuolumne Mdws, but then you are subject to citation until you leave
Yosemite.  And bears are an issue anywhere in Yosemite.  We shipped them
home from Kennedy Meadows North.  Even though they technically have no
outgoing mail, the gal at the desk shipped them home for all our party not
problem.
