[pct-l] underwear on the trail?

Dear Mike,

I've always taken 3 pairs of socks and underwear and one of everything else,
like Diane says that you can wear all at once under adverse conditions. In
retrospect, I can probably get along with 2. Maybe I suffer from the "eww"
factor but underwear does not take up a lot of room. In extreme adversity,
the elastic and underwear can be fashioned into emergency equipment, a
tourniquet or tie it tight over a wound for pressure to stop bleeding etc.
If you watch Mythbusters, prisoners have presumably fashioned the elastic in
their underwear to make a crossbow, works better than a shiv! The myth was
busted as it wouldn't "kill" anyone but it wasn't a bad weapon. The Apollo
13 guys (If you watched the movie with Tom Hanks) saved their ship with
silly items found in the capsule.
