[pct-l] Time

I'm sure this has been answered already, but we get asked the same question
here at Mountain Education. Our answer is simple:

Any long trail expedition is life-changing, whether you pull it off as
planned or not, so why hurry--you may never have the chance to come back! If
the trip is becoming a priority, where your very soul is screaming at you to
do it, don't delay and give it as much time as you can. The more time, the
slower you can go and really take it all in.

Don't be afraid of snow. Learn how to be safe moving over it and camping in
it. No big deal. Spring snow is hard in the morning, so do your few miles
then. The rest of each day you can fish, read, climb a tree or peak, take
lots of pictures, explore a side canyon, do your laundry, or whatever you
want!

It might be possible to do in a light snow year, IF you started the
trail already trail hardened.

Will all the snow you are probably going to have this year, it will be
a big challenge to get in 20 mile days between Whitney, and Sierra
City

If all you have it 2 months, then I would go as far as I could at a
comfortable pace, and not set a schedule.

Who knows, 6 weeks into it you may decide you've had enough. If not,
you can alway quit from the trail.....
