[pct-l] John Muir House Tour, Hike and BBQ - Sunday, February 27 - Martinez CA

Hey everyone!

The votes are in, it looks like February 27th works best for most folks, so
11am on 2/27 it is!

Please RSVP at  http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=149543245100178 if you
have Facebook, otherwise mail me directly so we can get a good count for the
grill and I can send you directions. Also, if you're a vegetarian, let me
know that too.

More info:

When: Sunday, February 27, 11am. (If you can only make part of the day, feel
free to arrive for whatever part works for you! Rough schedule is below).

Location: Martinez, CA -- accessible by car or BART. I'll be sending the
street address and phone number a couple of days in advance to RSVP'ed
folks. For those BART-ing, plan to arrive at the North Concord/Martinez BART
station around 10:15-10:30 so's you can get shuttled.

Bring: Lunch/snacks/daypack/usual gear for hike, a side dish/drink to share
for BBQ, and if you have a National Parks Pass, please bring that too. The
hike is in a fee access park, but we may be able to get everyone in for free
with enough passes ($3/person otherwise).

Hike: The hike will start around 11 up and around Mts. Wanda and Helen,
which are just 2 big hills (now part of the National Monument) where Muir
took his daughters hiking. If we go down the other side, we could walk back
to the Muir House proper, and visit his grave on the way, if people have
interest in that. (4-5 miles, a few hundred feet elevation)

House Tour: Tours are at 2 and 3 on weekends - we'll aim to come back down
from the hills in time.

BBQ: Shroomer will be firing up the grill and providing grillables -- any
vegetarians in the crowd, make yourselves known!!
