Just spoke on the phone with Beacon who with some other buddies is in Yreka (northern CA). They are renting a car, going to tour WA for three weeks and then returning to the trail. We agreed as stated on the List yesterday, this is a strange year to be thru hiking.

While speaking with him he said the most terrifying tale he's heard so far was about a gal named Sue from Canada. Apparently she slipped and fell while crossing a creek/river and was swept down stream. She got snagged on something and it took 5 other hikers to get her out. This was near VVR. She is returning home.
