Barney Mann aka Scout, wrote about YMCA relay groups hiking the Pacific Crest from Mexico to Canada in the years 1935 to 1938. 




Gordon and Shirley Petrie and Bob and Peggy Morrison camped every Labor Day weekend, first at Breitenbush Lake, and then at Horseshoe Lake on the road to Olallie, about 1/2 mile from the PCT. 

I remember Bob swimming in the lake in the 80s.
