>From the looks of many of the journals this year, there are some folks getting close to the Sierras.

One of my co-workers just got back from an attempted ski of the High Sierra ski route. From his description, they covered some ground in the Kearsarge/Bubbs Creek area. He reports that the southern exposures have some rock poking out (they were unable to ski these sections), but that there was lots of snow, maybe from the 9000 foot level up. Bubbs Creek was roaring (he recommended a raft for crossing! :-). Just joking, although water levels are high. He said snow shoes may still be of value. Night temps he estimated in the teens, daytime temps in the 60s.

Be safe out there!
