When I read Ned's descriptions of current trail conditions, it brings
out the worst in my creative writing skills (which are none too good to
begin with):

Top Ten Things 2011 Thru Hikers Were Heard to Say Before They Were Never
Heard From Again

1. "I know what I'm doing."
2. "Others ahead of me have done it."
3. "I promised myself that I would do this."
4. "A little water or a quick dunking never hurt anyone."
5. "We have to get across, right?"
6. "I'm ready for anything."
7. "We can't turn around."
8. "By the time I get there, conditions will have eased up."
9. "I feel lucky."
10. "How bad can it be?"
