To PCT-L:

Finishing the Appalachian Trail helped me to be more confident as a hitch hiker, but then the PCT takes some thought.  I've been reading posts and studying my topographical maps in excitement!  I love hiking long distances, but there are some questions in my mind:

Has anyone ever used those Stabilizer cleats (crampons) in place of normal crampon spikes?  Those cleats look good!...I tried a pair on at REI and theoretically they might help just enough and pack much better.  If they have worked for anyone else would be good information...the big question as I study the "line" through the San Jancintos.

Let's face it...hiking the triple crown is not easy (but its my turn apparently), the Appalachian Trail was tough and I hear the PCT is pretty...I'm excited.  So I call Perry and he tells me about the PCT-L and a 45 mile roadwalk to ACTON...any big problems with that road walk?

And if I got to ANZA on May 1st would that be enough time for the snow melt on Fuller ridge to open up a "line" for Northbounders?

And of course...I love catching animals to photograph, but!  Are there any "problem" bears anywhere?

Have a great day,
Steve Sheppard
