Oh, ye of little faith...

The Gourmet system has anticipated your concerns.  The balloon fabric is
suffiecietly tough that an ultralight length of cuben fiber  netting is
provided that allows the conversion to the relaxation/sleep system.  Merely
use your tent/tarp stakes to secure the netting over the balloon.  The
resulting flexible hydrogen lounge / mattress allows a either
comfortable rest break or a night's sleep.  My food bag is secured safely
beneath the balloon and ground sheet.
