I don't have much to compare it to, but the Etrex HTX is amazing at
keeping a fix in even the densest forest. Very accurate too. Integrates
well with all the computer software I've seen too.

Greg,
If it's work related I would look at a Garmin GPSMap62s. The smaller
lighter Garmin Dakota 20 or Etrex Vista HCx would be my
recommendations for most hikers. The Garmin Foretrex 401 at 2.3 ounces
(with lithium batteries, but the wrist strap removed) would be a good
choice for ultra lighters who don't mind working with UTM grids on
paper maps.
