[pct-l] down vs. synthetic

Hello All,

I was curious whether the majority of PCT thru hikers use down or synthetic
sleeping bags/quilts?

Would you consider it risky using a down quilt on the trail with a tarp
set-up? I imagine there is no risk as long as you keep it dry, but in your
experience is this a realistic goal (keeping the down dry)?

I plan on storing it in a dry-bag, like those kayakers use.
