[pct-l] San Jacinto report

Just a little report for anyone still south of San Jacinto.  
Trailhacker and I hiked over San Jacinto from Spitler Trail to just  
shy of the start of Section C. There was water at every source listed  
on Halfmile's maps and in many little creeks in between. There was  
still some snow on Fuller Ridge but nothing to worry about. Just  
humps you have to walk over. Some fallen trees on the trail, a few  
quite large. None impossible to get around on foot, though. The  
switchbacks down to Snow Creek are very overgrown. Had our permits  
checked by rangers twice (but it was Memorial Day weekend.)

We had hurricane winds and ice-fog and ice chunks the size of your  
hand falling out of the trees. It was an ice wonderland. Some of the  
larger creeks had ice on all the rocks you might want to step on, so  
I walked right in the cold water. Brr. It was below freezing on  
Sunday. It was probably a delightful 60 the following day, I'm guessing.

I did all this wearing sandals. I keep on hiking in these darn Chacos  
and they keep on working out. So anybody who has really bad foot/shoe  
problems might consider trying them. I wear them with wool socks.  
They are not good on snow, however, even though I keep walking on  
snow with them.
