Yup,
For shoes, you really have to try them out till you get a pair that is
perfect for you.  They should be great right from the start if synthetic,
as there is very little break in because the plastics and rubber don't
change shape very much.  If leather, you can break them in to a much
greater extent, but go for comfort right out of the box.  Diane does great
in her home made shoes, and Amoeba has hiked the AT twice and big sections
of the PCT in Crocs.  To each their own.
