[pct-l] Crossing river suggestions

I took an ice axe and used it every single day in the High Sierras, both as balance and as self belay on steep slopes.  Once it saved my life.  I wouldn't be here typing this if I hadn't had my ice axe to stop a slide going right towards a large cravasse.

Did most people find a pick axe and snow shoe picks necessary, understanding of course that every season is different. And the river crossing to avoid soggy foot any suggestions
