[pct-l] Hiking Oregon and Washington this upcoming summer

Everyone has a different experience. I also went through Oregon and Washington - but in August and September.
I don't recall having a problem with mosquitoes.  I was wearing ExOfficio "Buzz Off" insect repellent clothes - the socks, pants, shirt, and the cap with the cape to protect your neck. I only used Deet on the back of my hands and a little on my cheeks and forehead. Mosquitoes sometimes hovered around me but wouldn't land on my clothes. My tent, a "Hubba" has no-see-um  insect netting.  I always kept it zippered closed except when entering and leaving. The first thing that I would do - my routine - after entering, was to kill any insects that managed to get in.

I hiked Oregon/Washington in July/August 2009. I suggest bug-proof  
clothing from head to toe, even if that means multiple layers, a full  
tent, head net you can see through even with the sun in your face,  
DEET in a large fogging can and food you can eat easily by shoving it  
under your head net. I'll also suggest making or purchasing a device  
that will allow you to pee into a container while safely in your tent  
at night because the bugs do not sleep up there. Gloves may also help  
as the bugs will bite even the palms of your hands.

Enjoy the beauty and remember they will eventually wane. I am talking  
about the mosquitoes in case that was not clear.
