[pct-l] "nearo" or "nero"

On the AT it was universally called "nero". 

  

But whatever somebody wants to call it is okay with me.  I've got enough trouble trying to get people to stop verbing nouns.

Hello PCT Friends - 

What is your opinion for the spelling of a day in town which is nearly a zero?  We've always called it a nearo/nero, but I'm not sure what the general consensus is for the spelling of this most glorious town day.
