[pct-l] Mt. Whitney views 4/7/12

Hey Strider, or any of you other geologist types out there.  The top of Whitney, as shown in the link below, is a jumble of broken up slabs of granite.  Do you suspect that they were formed during the upthrust, or through the effects of weathering over the centuries?  I'm mentally contrasting it against the top of Half Dome which is comparatively smooth.
