We used coconut oil. Except when hot its a solid. Less mess, but still used  
ziploc over primary widemouth container.

I use a small nalgene bottle. They're pretty good about not leaking,  
although I carry that in a ziploc to be on the safe side. Olive oil is a  
wonderful thing.
