Interesting, I'd not know the new ones did.  

However, one wonders how that affects the shipping?  Maybe one might consider going back to pork (if available-I don't think it is)

It depends on the type of insulin. The newer fast acting ones like Humalog do require a prescription. Syringes can be purchased without a prescription.
