[pct-l] Hikertown

I was there overnight last year. He has made up a really nice "big" room
with a full kitchen and bathroom/shower... also laundry facilities. It was
very comfortable - big table to eat around, and couch and chairs to sit and
relax. I stayed in a trailer that had a cozy bed in it. I think it was
10.00 (can't remember?) to use the bed. It's a very interesting property
that he has decorated in old west fashion - like the old Knotts Berry Farm
style of look - chickens walking around and fresh eggs to eat, if you get to
them first. :)

Its great to stay overnight and get an early start on the desert section
coming up. I didn't have any mail sent there, but he does have his place
listed as a resupply address.

I was continually amazed at the kindnesses of strangers - to do so
incredibly much for people they don't know! That in itself is reason for a
thru hike... reminds us of the good people and things that life offers
instead of the sorry headlines that try to make us dark and discouraged.

There weren't any facilities that were 'just a floor' when I was there
- they had beds. There were also trailers with mattresses and not much
more.

The really nice house on site has a really nice kitchen, but I don't think
it's intended for hiker use.

Bob Mayon's email is in there. It should be easy enough to pose any
questions to him. He's a really nice guy.
