[pct-l] Thru hiking with dog

Sabory:

Use the search function on the forum. Every year this same ridiculous idea
comes up and it turns into a looooong diatribe about your rights vs. the
dog's health vs. the negative reaction of other hikers to the mere presence
of your dog. Invariably, someone will point out that an armed hiker may well
shoot the animal and that starts our other annual diatribe re: the
advisability of carrying a gun on the trail.

Bottom line - unless your dog can legally qualify as a service animal, it is
impossible to thru-hike the PCT legally and still stay on the PCT. The
National Parks do not allow pets other than legitimate service animals. You
can go around the NPs but you'll miss a lot of the best hiking.

It is also murder on your dog, or so say the great majority of dog owners
who have tried it.

Any opinions, experiences, warnings, recommendations regarding thru-hiking
the PCT with a dog?
