So are you planning a winter expedition? Or an in-season PCT hike
where you are going to encounter sub freezing temps a few nights in 5
months.

You survived your training hike. You should survive the few nights it
freezes... no, it won't be fun, but neither is carrying extra weight
that you don't really need.

And FWIW, a bivy sack in the rain (more likely than sub freezing)
really, really sucks....
