Have used a pee bottle at night for years. Even dumped it an arm's length
outside the shelter when full. Never attracted anything.


+1 on the salt attraction for deer. The handles of your trekking poles are
especially vulnerable if made of cork like the LT4s. In the south and
mid-west, porcupines are notorious for night-time salt raids. Keep your
boots in the tent.
