Muir Trail Ranch requires your package be sent in a plastic bucket with a handle to keep it rodent-proof while in storage.  They pick up the mail, take it up the lake on a boat, then haul it on mules to the ranch.  I don't know what it's ilke in June when the herd comes through, but when all the JMT hikers are coming through in the busier months of summer, there is a LOT of spare hiker food.  You could easily resupply for the few days it'd take to get to Red's Meadow or Mammoth.
