[pct-l] Water Capacity for Cali?

Good morning, Natalie,

I usually carry two 2.4L bags, plus a 1L bottle from which I drink.

For average-hot SoCal hiking I get about 10-15 miles per gallon, but that
doesn’t all have to come out of the pack. I drink whatever I can at one
water point, and then fill up again at the next point. Between, I have to
rely upon the pack water. The total consumption for the day’s mileage
exceeds what I carry.

One thing I always must think about is a dry campsite. If I want to camp
before encountering water, I’m careful to have at least one liter more than
would normally be associated with the between-water mileage. I don't
remember ever having to carry water for a dry day plus two dry camps.
