It has been my observation that the Harder the Cheese
the longer the shelf life - ie sharp or extra sharp cheddar
parmegam, etc

In the Fresno Area I have seen the packaged meats - tuna, chicken,
beef ?,
spam, in various stores - Vons, SaveMart, Walmart with the food
sections.

Walmart has a Tropical Trail mix 28oz that give 280 cal for a 1/2 cup 
serving. Great in Hot weather as it does not have any chocolate
to melt and lasts forever even when open.

Walmart also has Nido in 12oz and 3.5lb containers.
