Thanks for all the feedback on this project.

My apologies for not replying back sooner...something to do with my
computer getting stolen...yadda, yadda...

Anyway, in order:

Queso: Thanks for the link, I did a preliminary check, and this
organization (Adventure and Science) looks like exactly what we're thinking
about, so I'm super excited!

Mars, Chris and Heather: I will keep you posted and appreciate your
enthusiastic offers of help! It is unlikely that this is something that
will be ready for this year (clearly it won't be ready for thru's, but
possibly for section hikers).

Day Late and Diane: I agree with both of your points. I am well aware of
how my thru-hike not only impacted me in a way that influences how I am in
the rest of my life, and therefore my impact on the world, but that it also
allowed others the joy of contributing to me (trail angels, my mom, etc.).
My point is more that this is a way for people who might not otherwise see
the value of a long hike to get out there, and then discover that for
themselves. A little prod in the right direction, one might say. :)
