The last I read was that the Himalayas were the 'fastest' at  ~6.1 cm (= 61 mm) per year (dwarfs the Sierra's 1-2 mm!)...
If one considers the multiple tectonic plates colliding against each other that form the Himalayan region, it makes 
'sense' that they are the fastest in elevation growth - whereas the Sierra is 'mostly' a simple fault-block mountain range...

No, I'm not a "geologist" - but I was trained/educated as one many years ago!   ;o)
