I believe the answer is no.
if not why not,
The time required to hike the PCT because of weather in the Sierras (California) and weather in the North Cascades (Washington) is about 5 months, and the trail is about 2650 miles. The math says 2650/ 150 (5 months) = 17.7 miles a day without any days off looking for food or resting. Calorie intake to hike the trail is estimated to be about 3500-4000 calories a day, this calorie intake will require about two pounds of food. Because of these limitations it is almost impossible to obtain this amount of calories from the environment while hiking within this time frame. Furthermore, living completely off the grid while hiking the PCT would not be practicing the leave no trace (LNT) principles.
if so, WHO, and were they successful?
Don't know of anyone.
