[pct-l] Olallie Lake resupply

Hi Doug,
Having left that section 2 years ago due to fire, I was really looking forward to visiting Olallie Lake this year and had planned to top off my supplies before Timberline, but this year's fires and detours diverted hundreds of us hikers. Olallie Lake was closed for some time in August.
There have been fires, closures, and detours in that section for 3 consecutive years now. I had been hoping they'd consider taking hiker packages again, but now I'm not so sure it would be a dependable resupply, and I'd warn future hikers to carry a little extra food through that section during fire season, or maybe send a resupply to Big Lake YOuth Camp (which has also been briefly closed in past years, but quite rarely.)
I think the wisest thing is to check for anticipated and actual closures and where fires have been reported when re-supplying at Sisters/Bend, look for notices at every TH, ask SOBO'ers. If fire conditions appear to be worsening and one isn't planning to leave the trail at Samtiam Pass for resupply, they could hike over to Big Lake Youth Camp, south of Santiam, and check the notice board above the hiker box by the laundry. One can top off their supplies from the hiker box if they need a buffer for the days ahead. I didn't see what BLYC had in their store.

Good morning!

I would appreciate any information regarding 2012 experiences at Olallie
Lake concerning resupply.

Was the amount and selection of food and non-food supply decent? Any word
about a change in the operator's policy on resupply boxes?

Doug
