Agree. I walk a short 100 mile section last year the first week in August. Started at Will Pass.....Central Oregon is dotted with small ponds and lakes.  Still as night & the perfect breading ground for the squitos.  Take your deet and a tent.

I hiked Oregon/Washington in July/August. As a newbie tourist I   
learned that "obnoxious" is a kind word for the horror I experienced.   
So glad I took a lot of pictures through Oregon because I saw nothing   
through my head net as I ran for my life.
