Snow melt brings the mosquitos, and thru-hikers tend to travel north with
the melt.

Yes, The Sky Lakes Wilderness of OR is skeeter-central from the start of the
melt through the first hard freeze of late fall. Any lake, standing water,
or marshy ground anywhere will also hold them for a long time. To reduce the
likelihood of skeeters, camp on a ridge where the wind will discourage them.
