I think you'll be safe, but I'm a 6'3" man...so, maybe not the best
source of that information.

The thing is, you won't really ever be alone.  If your experience is
anything like mine, you'll meet some people at Kick-Off, or along the
way, and start hiking with new friends within a day or two.
