[pct-l] Ultralight Tents

Aloha Abby,

I just completed Section A on 6 Apr. I started with a Big Agnes Fly Creek UL2 Platinum--I admit as a section hiker I'm willing to carry some extra weight for comfort, e.g., two man tent--so I am in no way an 'ultra-light' guy. Weight conscious, but not fanatically committed to shaving grams here and there. Anyway, the tent floor ripped at the wall/floor seam as I skooched my butt across it trying to maneuver around inside the tent (had a footprint below)--that was at Cibbet Flats. I hiked up to Mount Laguna and wound up buying another BA tent from Laguna Mountain Sports (Thanks, Super!)--a FC UL2. The'regular' Fly Creek was just a few ounces more and performed like a champ through the rest of the hike to Warner Springs. To their credit, BA said they would totally take care of the torn Platinum under warranty. That's my recent experience--hope it helps some.
Cheers, Fritz
