[pct-l] Huff Post article.... Josh Garrett

Take a deep breath and relax. Life will give plenty of opportunities to
get annoyed and this is not one of them. Cheryl Strayed didn't even hike
half the PCT and her write up has everyone beat! Hiking the PCT can be a
quest for personal growth, to commune with nature or to test the
perseverance of the soul. I absolutely love reading about these deeply
personal experiences whether or not they finished or accepted a trail bar
along the way.

Personally, I am very interested in Josh's experience as I heard he hiked a
Vegan hike. That is a tremendous feat in an of itself! I am having a
difficult time giving up my ultra light down sleeping bag but maybe reading
about his experience can give me the strength and resolve to not consume
products from the slaughter and torture of animals. I think we can find it
in ourselves to cherish the journey of every person who hikes and/or
completes the PCT without being so mean spirited.

I enjoyed following Anish here on this PCT list and would also love to read
about her journey some time. I would love to meet her and Josh in person.
More than Josh or Anish, my favorite story was those young men who rescued
that dog and carried it to Chester!!! No PCT speed record comes close to
that story! Each of these stories are unique. This isn't a pissing
contest or the Olympics!!! Of course we all trade stories and marvel at
the speed and austerity that some people hike the PCT but in the end, we
value the experiences and stories.

Peace!

Toga
