There is no dilemma. Just go to Campo and start hiking. You will meet up
with like minded people who will be happy to partner with you. Such
partnerships will be as tight or as loose as you want them to be. They
may break apart and others form during the hiking season.

If you try to talk a friend into going with you, there is a real
possibility that the partnership won't last long on the trail. Your
paces, goals, objectives, hiking styles, etc, may be different. You're
better off to find a partner on the trail. With around 400 prospective
thrus starting within a four week window of time, finding someone whose
hiking style and personality match yours should be easy.

Or you may decide that you prefer to hike alone.
