Most trail angels are very forgiving and don't refuse service if no donation is forthcoming. That being said, always give a donation. They have expenses that are not listed in any guidebook. And they help every year that they can. The amount is up to you. If you can't contribute with money, then contribute in some other way. Find a way. Always. Consider it your way of "paying it forward."
