[pct-l] Camera - to bring or not to bring...?

Some friends of ours went to Machu Picchu and didn't bring cameras.  
We're really mad at them. We really wanted to see the pictures and  
they have nothing at all.

My pictures are the joy of my life. I am very happy I had a camera. I  
went through 3 point and shoot cameras and 2 disposables through my  
two trips. Lessons learned:
1. Some cameras do not work above 10,000 feet.
2. Don't sleep with your camera.
3. Disposable cameras suck.
