[pct-l] GPS

I bought it hoping that the camera would be more usable than it is. The
gps must go through the entire start up process before the camera can be
used. That takes long enough to make wildlife shots almost impossible. If
the camera were available almost immediately, I'd really love my 550. I
still like the 550, but now I think the 450 is a better choice. It also
works fairly well as a cycling computer and automotive gps, albeit with no
audio for the latter. It doesn't handle waypoints very well. It lists all
of them, which makes it hard to go through the list to find a specific
waypoint, so it makes attaching a saved waypoint to a photo with the gps
very tedious, as well as deleting or hiding certain waypoints. Ideally it
would be able to enable/disable individual waypoint files like it can with
track files.

I use a storage card with mine. It's much bigger than I need so I can
store multiple maps and many thousands of pictures, but also non gps files
like music, ebooks and other files that I might wish to access on another
device.

The maps on mine are Garmin's 100k topo, a few 24k topo's from
gpsfiledepot.com, openstreetmap and Garmin's City Navigator. I like having
City Navigator to help give my hitch directions. I put all of Halfmile
tracks and waypoints on it.
