[pct-l] Starting Date

I agree that March first is too early most years for what conditions
hikers would like to encounter.  However, in 2007, a very dry year, I
have to wonder if that was really the case.  When I was backpacking in
the High Sierra in the 3rd week of May, there was less snow then
normally a month latter.  I really feel that a beginning of May entry
date was realistic that year.

I want to make a comment about Ray Day (june 15th), but to not derail
this thread I'll post it in a seperate post called Ray Day in a few
minutes.  But to summarize, In both of his 2 NOBO hikes, he never used
it as he went in much earlier.
