You were planning on hiking from Kennedy Meadows to, say, Mt Lassen
which some might call the northern limit of the Sierra Nevada, without
resupply?

You only need a Bear Can from SEKI to the norther boundary of
Yosemite, and really only a small part of that, not for the whole
Sierra Nevada section
