In a Vermont laundromat, I once ran into two guys wearing black plastic garbage bags while their clothes washed and dried.   This was way before I knew anything about thru hikers, but even at the time I thought that was pretty smart.

You washed your undies first.  That's the big difference.  A gross out guy
ust figures he and the undies get washed at the  same time.  In Leadore ID
his year, the laundry was closed by the time I got settled and so I did
he old put on everything and shower with it, soaping one layer at a time
ill I was down to skin.  I smelled much better after that than when I
irst hit town.
