[pct-l] How to get home.

I'm curious to know how others have planned, succeeded, or failed in their return home either during or after completing the thru hike. I live in southern California and need to purchase my return transportation before I began the hike. Being my first thru hike, I'm looking for something either refundable or open ended dates. Advice and experience welcome.
