When I hiked this section I did go over to Mike Herrera's house and
took advantage of the shade--he was not home, so I just hung out at
the hiker shack he had set up. The water was not working at the tank
at that time--2010.  I spent the night at the water cache by the
trail. I wasn't planning on the water, but did top off. 

There was about 18 gallons when I went through on May 25th, 2010.
