[pct-l] Wood stove

I checked into that before starting my PCT ride in 2008. It seemed like a good idea. Lisa Wood had used one during part of her ride across America. I learned that that kind of stove would illegal on most of the PCT. Stoves must have a shut-off valve. I think that kind of stove would be allowed in the lower elevation parts of the Sierra. Best to check with the U.S. Forest Service and with the National Park Service. In Southern California campfires along the PCT are also banned. They are allowed only in the fire rings found in drive-in campgrounds. There have been too many human-started wildfires along the PCT over the years.

I know Joe from ZPacks has used one of these on the PCT for the entire
duration. Has anyone here used one? Is it feasible to use one the whole
way? Most of the way?

Obviously carrying backup esbit or alcohol would be wise, but I figure you
could cut some serious weight by burning the twigs that are laying around.
