[pct-l] Mountain Fire Update

Today, weather and fire behavior forecasts predicted that the fire would
continue to burn aggressively and would generate significant a smoke column
high into the atmosphere. Smoke columns of this nature have the ability to
create thunderstorms, which generate lightning and erratic winds.

Fortunately, the thunderstorms did not materialize, and firefighters were
able to construct a fireline along the ridgeeast of the Idyllwild and Pine
Cove communities.

Along the southeast corner of the fire, crews made excellent progress in
containing the back fire near Trails End, on Morris Ranch Road in Garner
Valley.

Tonight, moisture is projected to move across the area from the
East/Southeast with an increase in cloud cover through Saturday morning.

Firefighters will focus their efforts overnight on constructing additional
containment lines on the southern flank of the fire.
