Hey, hey, hey! No disparaging remarks about rocks! Rocks are our friends and provide numerous materials and benefits to our society and to our diet. I always carry rocks with me, but only unltralight versions!

Diane,
As usual, you are right on target.  I have hiked the Sierras most of my life 
and have thru-hiked the PCT twice.  Bear spray would be as useful as 
carrying a rock.
